Community Meeting – Regarding Silverado Elementary School Property – 4/30/13

April 25, 2013

Passing on information from Lisa Collins:

Community Meeting
Tuesday, April 30, Silverado Community Center
6 PM to 9 PM

This meeting is a follow-up to the 4/4/13 meeting held at the Community Center hosted by Orange County Community Resources, OC Parks and OC Libraries. At this meeting, our officials stated that they would like to hear from our community.

This meeting is a community round-table event. Everyone is welcome! We would like to hear from you. Please bring an open mind and be prepared to share your suggestions, ideas, and thoughts on this property.

Attendance for the entire meeting will not be required. Come for as little or as long as you like. Bring your voice to influence the future of the Silverado School; form a chorus of concern about the direction for this key community resource.

On May 14, the Board of Supervisors will be voting on whether or not to buy the Silverado School property. The County plans to move the Silverado Library there, to have a County Parks facility there, and… ??? Who knows what else? The County has other ideas about what to put there, but we want to be sure that our communities’ concerns and interests are also taken into consideration.

Please attend this important meeting if you have ideas or concerns about what will happen to the school property.

Because of the complexity of the issues, the level of importance to the community, and the urgency, we will be using a version of the Open-Space Meeting process, which maximizes individual input, encourages involvement, and adapts to chaotic situations. Participants will determine the agenda, discuss issues, and form subgroups.

At least one additional meeting will be held and subgroups may decide to become short term working groups. At the last meeting, a unified vision of the communities’ desires for the Silverado School facility will be produced and we will select a method to communicate our ideas to the County.

If you have questions, please email Lisa Collins at lisacollins@smrpd.org or Linda May at lindamay@cox.net.

If you cannot attend the meeting and have ideas or concerns, please email them to the above contacts.

Please spread the word about this important meeting. Forward this email liberally.
Invite neighbors who may not regularly use email.

We look forward to seeing you there!
Lisa Collins & Linda May

Hosted by the SMRPD. Water, coffee, and light snacks will be provided.
