Christmas in the Canyon 12/10/11

A country holiday in historic Silverado

Press Release: An old fashioned get-together of friends and neighbors in downtown Silverado on December 10th, 2011 from noon to 6 PM. This event will feature local artisans selling holiday gift items… entertainment of the season… and a visit from Santa Claus. The gathering is FREE to all and in keeping with the nostalgia of the community we are asking local folks to come in old western attire.

Christmas in the Canyons will begin with an Unparade. Join in with your decorated float, cart, car or bike. It starts at 11:00 AM at our Fire Hall (Station 14) and will travel downtown at about noon with Santa arriving by sleigh with jingle bells pulled by reindeer (well sort of). Kids don’t miss Santa a get your photo taken for $5.00, donations to Santa accepted.

The town will be adorned with Christmas lights starting with a decorating party Sunday December 4th at noon. The entrance to downtown Silverado will display a massive sculpture “Canyon Christmas Tree” designed by our very own local artists.

All are welcome… for out of town visitors parking will be available across from the Silverado Community Center and a horse-drawn wagon will shuttle folks to town. The ride is free, but a donation bucket will be hanging from the wagon.

Fresh cut Christmas Trees (donated by Peltzer Pines) will be available for sale and raffle. Trees along with gift items will be raffled as well as sold. This community recreation event has been designed and implemented by many canyon volunteers and is sponsored by the SMRPD.
